Facelift, as known as Rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure that we lift sagging facial tissues (because of aging) to restore a younger facial appearance.
Facelift Surgery
Facelift Surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes about 3 to 4 hours. The incision begins in the hairline at the temples at the eye level, continues around the ear and ends behind the ear. We seperate the skin from the underlying connective tissue and muscles. Then, excess skin is removed, and we pull the remaining skin backwards and upwards and stich it to its new location. The surgery is ended by placing the drainage tubes to the incision sites to remove the any excess blood under the skin.
Pain After Facelift Surgery
Although the stretching is felt in the first 3 days due to swelling, pain is very rare.
Recovery After Surgery
After the surgery, a face-lift corset is placed on your face. After the surgery you will stay one night at the hospital. In this way, your follow-up is done by nurses, and you will have more comfortable first night with pain killers that provided by the hospital. Next morning, you will be discharged from the hospital after my checks. Daily dressing continues. The face-lift corset is used for 10 days. Swelling will gradually get better, and should be difficult to notice after about 2 weeks and disappears completely after about 2 months. After 2 week, the stitches will be removed. After 6 months, the full effect of the facelift should be seen. Since our face structure will change from the first day onwards, you will face a more familiar face after about 6 months after the operation until our facial features are fully seated.
You will have 3rd and 7th day check-ups after the surgery in doctor’s clinic. On the 3rd day check-up, your dressing will be changed and the drainage tubes will be removed. After 7th day check-up, you are free to fly.
Scar After Surgery
