Breast Enlargement is a surgical procedure that chosen by women, who want to have more aesthetically pleasing, more volumized and beautiful breasts. Breast Enlargement Surgery
Breast enlargement surgery is a operation that we placed silicone implants under or over the chest muscle, under general anaesthetic. The surgery usually takes 1 to 2 hours. After surgery we will give you well-fitted surgical bra similar to sports bra. This bra need to be worn for 4 weeks. If you want extra bra, we will provide for you. When necessary, we also make a tight bandage on the bra. After the surgery you will stay one night at the hospital. In this way, your follow-up is done by nurses, and you will have more comfortable first night with pain killers that provided by the hospital. You will be discharged from the hospital after my checks.
Shapes of Breast Enlargement Implants
It does not matter which brand of implant is, but has to be FDA (US Food and Drug Administration ) approved. I don’t use any implants except the FDA-approved brand I trust.
Tear-Drop Implant: It is similar to the shape of the breast. It is preferred by patients who demand a more natural breast appearance.
Round Implant: The upper part of the nipple provides a fuller appearance. It is preffered by patients who like decollete.
Although the desire of the patient is a great importance in the selection of implant; the following criteria should be taken into consideration by your doctor and you.
Criteria For Choosing Breast Enlargement Implants
- Your Choice
- Thickness of your chest skin
- Thickness of your chest muscle
- Sizes of your body (width of your chest area, shoulder chest range, height)
- Degree of your breast sagging
- Your previous breast surgeries
Placing Silicone Implants in Breast Enlargement Surgery
Silicone implants in breast enlargement surgeries are placed in two places. Over chest mustle or under chest muscle.
Under Chest Muscle: It is preferred in patients with thin breast tissue and thin breast skin. Provides a more natural look.
Over Chest Muscle: It is prefered if tissue thickness and breast skin are sufficient. It is less painful and takes shorter.
In breast enlargement surgery, your doctor will tell you about the place where your silicone implants will be placed after your examination.
Pain After Breast Enlargement Surgery
From your researches and you heard from those who have undergone surgery is true that “first two days there will be some pain”, Pain is relieved on the first day at the hospital by intravenous painkillers, afterwards relieved by the painkiller tablets. As you know, pain varies from person to person. You endure some pain for a few days to have breasts that you want.
Recovery After Breast Enlargement Surgery
The first two days, we rest as much as possible. Because of the tension in the muscles and the increased pain by moving the arm, we are spending our rest with sitting upright. There will be some swelling in our breasts during this period. After the first two days, our pains will be reduced, our arm movements will be relaxed and the swelling will decrease. To ensure that the breast is shaped with the implant, we continue to wear the bra after surgery for a period of 1 month. We interrupt the activities and sports in which your arm movements are intense during the 1 month period. After the breast enlargement surgery, I also start the treatment of anti-scars at your check-up.
You will have 3rd and 7th day check-ups after the surgery in doctor’s clinic. Your dressing will be changed. After 7th day check-up, you are free to fly.
Risks After Breast Enlargement Surgery
- Bleeding or hematoma formation
- The formation of tight scar tissue around the implant (capsular contracture)
- Irregularities or asymmetry in the shape and size of the breasts
- Chance of implant rotates

I want to have breast enlargement surgery, but I have concerns that I can breastfeed.
You can breastfeed. Because breast implants are placed under the breast tissue and have no connection with milk ducts.
-
Do you think mammogram is necessary for breast surgeries?
It is not compulsory to have mammogram or usg routinely before Breast Surgery. It is recommended in patients with a family history of breast cancer or other risk factors. If there is a suspicious area in the examinations, it is not appropriate to perform a breast surgery without being fully confirmed by a general surgery physician who deals with breast cancer. I generally request usg for all patients under 40 years of age, and mammogram over the age of 40 years.
